Visākha Pūjā (Vesak) is the most sacred day in the Buddhist calendar, commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and passing away of the Buddha. These three momentous events, according to the Theravāda tradition, all took place on the full moon day of the month of Visākha.

We warmly invite you to join us at Paññāgiri Monastery for a full day of practice, reflection, and community. Whether you have practised for many years or are simply curious about Buddhism, all are welcome.

The day begins with a warm welcome and concludes with a candlelit circumambulation —a walking meditation around the monastery grounds in honour of the Buddha, the Dhamma (his teachings), and the Sangha (the monastic community). This ancient practice of devotion is one of the most beautiful expressions of Vesak.

At 11:30 a.m. there will be a communal food offering. We kindly ask all visitors to bring a dish to share so that we may enjoy a meal together in the spirit of Dāna (generosity).

You are welcome to attend the full day or join us for any part of the programme that suits you.
