Paññāgiri is in the process of being a Buddhist monastery of the Theravada tradition located at the Aragall farmhouse, in Aiguafreda, at the limits of the Montseny natural park.
It is an ideal environment for monastic life according to the forest tradition. The farmhouse, built in 1604 and renovated in 1960, is in good condition and is 550 meters above sea level in the Osona region, just 40 km from Barcelona and offers an ideal space for retreat and contemplative life.
The name Paññāgiri is a Pāli term, an ancient Indian language that is used throughout this tradition, similar to how Latin continues to be used in Christianity.
Paññāgiri means “the mountain of wisdom”.
