What are Uposatha Days?

Uposatha Days are days dedicated to renewing one’s commitment to the practice of the Dhamma, observed by both monks and nuns as well as lay followers in Theravada Buddhist monasteries around the world.

On the days of the four phases of the moon—new moon, first quarter, full moon, and last quarter—at Panñagiri, after the evening meditation and chanting, there is a short pause, and then Ajahn Ñāṇadassano offers a reflection on the Dhamma. This is followed by a period of sitting or walking meditation that lasts until midnight.

Paññāgiri: "Wisdom Mountain"

Paññāgiri is a Buddhist monastery of the Theravada tradition located at the Aragall farmhouse, in Aiguafreda, at the limits of the Montseny natural park.

It is an ideal environment for monastic life according to the forest tradition. The farmhouse, built in the 17th century and renovated in 1960, is in good condition and is 550 meters above sea level in the Osona region, just 40 km from Barcelona and offers an ideal space for retreat and contemplative life.

The name Paññāgiri is a Pāli term, an ancient Indian language that is used throughout this tradition, similar to how Latin continues to be used in Christianity.

Paññāgiri means “Wisdom Mountain”.
